UNIVERSAL+ 7WR 4ASR

The main function of the Universal+ 7WR ASR unit is to isolate electrical sectors posing problems of earth leakage or over-loading and permit the remaining sectors to continue functioning normally. For it to function correctly, it must be installed downstream from an earth leakage and overload protection unit with automatic reclosure.

When the protection unit recloses, the Universal+ 7WR ASR will detect the presence of 230V AC voltage and will automatically start up the enablement sequence for the sectors (relays). These sectors will be enabled sequentially, thus minimising the start-up over-intensity at the upstream protection unit.

How does it work?

Initialization sequence: This sequential initialization process memorises each step. In this way, if, upon a sector being initialized, the delay validation is not met (due to absence of 230V AC voltage owing to a general cut-off by the protection unit installed upstream), the next time the initialization sequence comes into play, the unit will omit the enablement of the defective sector. It will be memorised and this sector will be isolated. Once the sequence has come to an end, if there are any isolated sectors, the unit will carry out a timed reclosure cycle (provided that it has been programmed) to attempt to re-enable them.
Automatic/Manual OFF mode: The initialization sequence will only take into account those sectors configured as “Auto•. The sectors in “Manual OFF” mode will remain indefinitely disabled (OFF).

How does it work?

General delay due to power cut: If a voltage of 230V AC is detected, start-up of the sequence will be delayed. This is useful in synchronizing with other Universal+ 7WR ASR units installed in the same line and in extending sectors in multiples of 4.
Initialization sequence: This sequential initialization process memorises each step. In this way, if, upon a sector being initialized, the delay validation is not met (due to absence of 230V AC voltage owing to a general cut-off by the protection unit installed upstream), the next time the initialization sequence comes into play, the unit will omit the enablement of the defective sector. Reclosures: from 0 to 10 automatic reclosures for isolated sectors (0= no reclosure). If all the reclosures are used up unsuccessfully, the isolated sectors will remain so indefinitely.
Reclosure counter reset to zero time: if, after a reclosure cycle, reclosure of the defective sector/s has been successful, the reclosure counter will re-start its reset to zero cycle. Once done, the reclosure counter will go back to zero.
